This Friday morning, October 16, 2020, the graduate program director, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, Ph.D, served as a speaker in the Idjen Talkshow. Talkshow with the theme “How is the Portrait of East Java on its 75th Anniversary?” presented two other speakers, namely Dewanti Rumpoko, Mayor of Batu city, and Emil Elistianto Dardak, vice governor of East Java.

Emil said that  this 75th anniversary celebration is not a priority. However, we should be more grateful because up to now, the people of East Java have been given health and togetherness in the pandemic. “We appreciate every human being in education, health, and the community who keep achieving during the pandemic,” he said.

In addition, Emil, who was also the former Trenggalek Regent, revealed that the Government  of East Java in collaboration with the expert council formulated policies that were able to reduce poverty by providing broad access in East Java especially during pandemic like this time.

The Mayor of Batu, Dewanti Rumpoko also felt the impact of the pandemic. Mrs. Mayor said that the pandemic had an impact on the number of tourists who came to Batu City. However, this did not stop the Batu City Government’s intention to continue the tourism development plan.

On this East Java anniversary, Prof. Mas’ud Said, the Professor of Government Science, emphasized the importance of ordinary  people in governance. “The government must provide access to the underprivileged, not only access to education, health but also in banking. In government, the executants are not only the government, but also the people. Strong people make a strong country”. He concluded.

Also, the East Java Expert Council gave a closing statement for the government and the people of East Java. “Do whatever it takes so that the community gets something, needs, access, guarantees what the community cannot handle. For the people of East Java, we are the most democratic country. Don’t do with anarchism. Again, there is no great government, unless the people are also great.”
