UNISMA Signed MoU with Minhaj Welfare Foundation and Minhaj University Lahore

Minhaj Welfare Foundation signed with UNISMA

University Islam of Malang (UNISMA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Minhaj University Lahore (MUL) and Minhaj Welfare Foundation. This international collaborative effort was initiated by the Director of Graduate Studies, a result of synergy between the Graduate Program of UNISMA, the Office of International Affairs (OIA), and the Association of Nahdlatul Ulama Graduates (ISNU) of East Java. The four-hour event took place in the East Java Study Center Room on the 3rd Floor.

Professor M. Masud Said, MM., Ph.D., stated that this initiative is a continuation of Professor Masud’s visit along with the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, to the United Kingdom in 2023. This collaboration aims to enhance research, educational provision, and community service.

With enthusiasm, Prof. Masud welcomed the guests who attended the event. He hoped that this activity would pave the way for broader contributions in the future.

Three representatives from the Minhaj Foundation were also present: Faisal Hussain as Managing Director, Adnan Sohail as Director Operations, and Muhammad Imran Qureshi – Director Finance. Meanwhile, from Lahore, Mr Khurram Shahzad attended as the head of MUL Registration.

Faisal Hussain explained the inception of Minhaj-ul-Quran in Pakistan and its development by the Pakistani diaspora in the UK. One of the bodies under Minhaj-ul-Quran is the Minhaj Welfare Foundation which focuses on zakat, infaq, waqf, charity, and humanitarian activities.

Adnan Sohail discussed the development of Islam in the UK and the challenges faced after the emergence of negative stereotypes about Islam in Western society. He highlighted that Muslims have lost their identity due to the globalization of information not supported by the cultivation of Islamic character.

As the event concluded, Muhammad Imran Qureshi recited the Burdah salawat accompanied by prayers, symbolizing the unity and goodwill created through this collaboration. The signing of the MoU marks a new chapter in the partnership between UNISMA and Minhaj University Lahore, strengthening mutual growth and development in the fields of education and community service.
