On 3 September 2020, UNISMA’s Postgraduate Program convened a coordination meeting on curriculum reconstruction. In addition to the full leadership and all Program Heads, the meeting was also attended by lecturers from across the Postgraduate Program.
Facilitated by Dr. Pardiman, MM., Head of Master’s Program in Management, the meeting opened with a directional address by Postgraduate Program Director, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, Ph.D. The Professor of Administrative Science conveyed that the Postgraduate Program has been conducting ongoing diagnosis and general check-ups of its existing curriculum.

This initiative is further supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Freedom to Learn – Independent Campus (Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka) policy, which necessitates the equivalency of activities within the credit system (SKS), hence the imperative for a curriculum overhaul across the Postgraduate Program. Prof. Mas’ud further shared his personal academic experience at Flinders University, where activity-based learning carried significantly greater weight than conventional classroom instruction.

The meeting continued with presentations by Dr. Sri Wahyuni, M.Pd., a member of the curriculum reconstruction team, and Dr. Nur Fajar Arief, M.Pd., Deputy Director for Academic Affairs. It was conveyed that the Postgraduate Program’s curriculum reconstruction is grounded in four core principles: accommodating the spirit and philosophy of the Freedom to Learn – Independent Campus policy; development based on the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and the National Standards for Higher Education (SN-Dikti); outcome-based education; and the accommodation of UNISMA’s local institutional policies.
For reference, UNISMA’s Postgraduate Program had already initiated its curriculum overhaul since early August, with all Program Heads subsequently following up by convening internal curriculum reconstruction meetings within their respective fields. (NAD/AL/PPS)
