Malang – Doctoral Program in Multicultural Islamic Religious Education (PAI) held an open dissertation defense for two doctoral candidates, Hartini, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Lalu Jayadi, M.Pd. The pair are registered as the 105th and 106th candidates in the program. The defense took place on January 25, 2025, at the East Java Study Center.
As part of the academic requirement, both candidates presented their dissertation findings before a panel of professors and senior scholars in the field. The examining board was chaired by Prof. Drs. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D., and assisted by Prof. Djunaidi Ghony, M.A., Head of S3 PAI Program. Other examiners included Prof. Imam Suprayogo, Prof. Dr. Maskuri, M.Si., and Prof. Abdul Haris, M.A.
Hartini and Lalu Jayadi explored critical issues in Islamic Religious Education through a multicultural lens, addressing themes relevant to contemporary social dynamics. Hartini conducted her research in Balun Village, Lamongan, while Lalu Jayadi focused his study at SMP Negeri 1 Praya, Central Lombok.
Hartini’s dissertation is titled “Community Social Capital in Fostering Harmonious Living: A Multicultural Islamic Education Perspective in Balun, Turi, Lamongan.”
Lalu Jayadi’s dissertation is titled “The Implementation of Multicultural Islamic Education Values in the Learning Process at SMP Negeri 1 Praya.”
Doctoral candidate Lalu Jayadi posed for a group photograph with members of the examining board, accompanied by family members, relatives, and fellow doctoral peers.
Following comprehensive presentations and an intensive question-and-answer session, both candidates received their final evaluations from the examining board. In the concluding session, the official results were announced, determining their eligibility for the Doctoral Degree. Both were declared to have passed with high distinction.
