Malang, January 10, 2024 – Dwi Mariyono, a lecturer in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) from the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), officially earned his doctoral degree after passing his open dissertation exams in the Doctoral Program (S3) in Multicultural Islamic Education at the Islamic University of Malang. His academic journey took him five semesters to complete the program.
Mr. Dwi, as he is affectionately known, titled his dissertation “Entrepreneurial Spirit in Developing Multicultural Islamic Education at the Bahrul Maghfiroh Islamic Boarding School in Malang.” This research offers a concept that combines entrepreneurial spirit with multicultural Islamic education, creating space for innovation and more holistic learning.
The open dissertation defense was conducted with solemnity, attended by a panel of examiners consisting of Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Pd (also serving as the supervisor), Prof. H. M. Mas’ud Said, MM., Ph.D, Prof. Dr. H. Imam Suprayogo, Prof. Dr. Nur Syam, M.Si, Dr. H. Rosichin Mansyur, S.Fil., Prof. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D, and Prof. Dr. Djuaidi Ghony (also serving as co-supervisor).
During the examination session, which proceeded smoothly, Dwi Mariyono successfully defended his dissertation. The final result was a grade of A with honors, signifying the exceptional quality and contribution of his research.
“I am grateful for the guidance and support from the supervisors and the examination committee. This research is the result of the guidance from the lecturers during their lectures and the feedback received during the exams,” said Dwi Mariyono.

With this distinction, Dwi Mariyono is now authorized to use the title of Doctor following the issuance of the official diploma. His achievement as the 95th Doctor leaves a profound impression and expresses gratitude to all parties who have guided and supported him throughout his academic journey.
It is hoped that this achievement will inspire academics and education practitioners, particularly in exploring potential and bridging the spirit of entrepreneurship with multicultural Islamic education in the future.
