Rector’s Message at the Send-Off of 217 Graduation Candidates

Rector of Universitas Islam Malang, Prof. Dr. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D., reinforced the director’s message on the importance of perseverance and dedication. He noted that the graduates’ hard work was clearly reflected in the successful completion of their studies, a process that undeniably required sustained effort and commitment.

The Rector further emphasized that postgraduate students are a vital component in supporting UNISMA’s vision of becoming a world-class university. One of the key performance indicators in achieving this goal, he said, is the production of high-quality research published in reputable academic journals.

He also stressed that strong research outcomes must be accompanied by the ability to present findings concisely in the form of scholarly articles. Should any gaps remain in this area, graduates are encouraged and required to continue consulting their supervisors or promoters at UNISMA.

Chairman of the UNISMA Foundation Board, Prof. Dr. Ir. Agus Sugianto, M.P., reflected on the symbolic meaning behind the shifting of the graduation tassel.

“The movement of the tassel represents a transformation from ontology and epistemology acquired during the course of study towards axiology, where knowledge is translated into action and tangible impact for society,” he explained.

The ceremony is expected to serve as a meaningful milestone and a moment of preparation for the official graduation ahead. Congratulations to all Postgraduate Program graduates of the 77th period. (AL/PPS)
