Malang (25/10) – In collaboration with Universitas Wahid Hasyim (Unwahas) Semarang, Universitas Islam Malang through its Master’s Program in Islamic Religious Education, held a Joint Seminar at the KH. Hasyim Asy’ari Hall on the 7th floor of the Utsman bin Affan Building. The seminar carried the theme “Integrating Islamic Values in Education, Economics, and Family Life: Towards a Just and Sustainable Society.”
Unwahas delegation was formally welcomed by Dr. Akhmad Tabrani, M.Pd., Vice Director II of UNISMA Postgraduate Program.
“Thank you for visiting your fellow PTNU colleagues here in Malang,” he said.
The academic, who is also known as a literary figure, concluded his remarks by reciting an excerpt from a poem by Zawawi D. Imron. Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) at Unwahas, Dr. KH. Iman Fadhilah, M.Si., expressed his appreciation through a poetic pantun. “Burung Cendrawasih dari Papua, Terima kasih kita dapat bersua.” he recited.
FAI Dean also expressed admiration for UNISMA’s tagline, “From NU for Indonesia and World Civilization.” According to him, the slogan instills enthusiasm, pride, and renewed spirit as members of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). He noted that NU members at times tend to feel less confident about their NU identity.

Joint Seminar Session Featuring Student Speakers

The Joint Seminar featured four speakers from both universities. They included Inda Brilliant from UNISMA’s Master in Islamic Family Law, Muhammad Faiz Mujib from UNISMA’s Islamic Religious Education program, Moh Ulinuha Karim from Unwahas’s Master in Islamic Religious Education, and a representative from Unwahas’s Sharia Economic Law program.
Inda Brilliant presented a paper entitled “Islamic Legal Communication in the Determination of Wali Adhol: A Comparative Study of Indonesia and Morocco.” The presentation was a summary of her article published in a Sinta 2-indexed academic journal.
The next presentation was delivered by Moh Ulinuha Karim, who discussed “The Transformation of Pesantren Traditions in the Digital Era: Between Value Preservation and Technological Adaptation.”
The third presentation was delivered by Muhammad Faiz Mujib, who presented a paper titled “The Bahtsul Masail Method in Enhancing Santri’s Verbal-Linguistic Abilities.”
The final presentation was delivered by Erma Agil Mustikawati under the title “Algorithmic Fiqh in Islamic Fintech.” This session elaborated on the application of Islamic jurisprudence in digital processes, particularly in the management of zakat.
“Hopefully, academic collaborations and initiatives such as this can continue sustainably, strengthening the partnership between Unwahas and Unisma,” Erma concluded. (AL/PPS)
