Preparing Quality Research: Postgraduate Program Holds Proposal Clinic

Universitas Islam Malang (Unisma) is preparing quality research by holding a clinic on drafting research and community service proposals for faculty members based in the Postgraduate Program.

The event was held on Tuesday, April 4, 2013. The session, held at the East Java Study Center, was opened by Unisma’s Deputy Director 2, Dr. Nur Fajar Arief, M.Pd.

This training aims to improve the quality of research as a first step for Unisma to enter the World University Ranking by Quacquarelli Simonds. The speaker for this event was Prof. Ananda Sabil Husein, SE, M.Com., Ph.D., MCA, a professor at Brawijaya University who has extensive experience in writing research and community service proposals.

During the training, Prof. Ananda Sabil Husein presented material on how to write effective research and community service proposals, covering everything from topic identification, problem formulation, and conceptual framework development to appropriate writing techniques and language that is easily understood by readers.

In addition, the speaker also provided tips and tricks for creating compelling and effective research and community service proposals, thereby increasing Unisma’s chances of being included in internationally recognized global university rankings.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) provides grants for research and community service through several schemes, namely basic research, applied research, and development research. Basic research aims to develop new theories or concepts, while applied research aims to produce practical solutions to problems faced by the community. Meanwhile, development research aims to create better products or processes.

The speaker explained that research and community service are crucial for improving the quality of higher education institutions, and for this reason, Kemendikbud Ristek has provided grants to support these activities.

It is hoped that through this training, Unisma’s home-based graduate school faculty members will be able to produce high-quality research and community service that can provide greater benefits to society and also strengthen Unisma’s position as one of the leading universities in Indonesia. (AL/PPS)
