Postgraduate Program Directors Present Academic Programs at Various Universities in Malaysia

Malang, July 11, 2023 – The Postgraduate Program at Universitas Islam Malang (Unisma) demonstrated its commitment to fostering international collaboration. Last Tuesday, the Postgraduate Program Directors from Unisma presented their academic programs at several universities in Malaysia as the main agenda of the event.

The delegation from Unisma’s Postgraduate Program visited three universities: Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi MARA, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Additionally, the Unisma postgraduate delegation also visited the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education, the Indonesian School in Kuala Lumpur, the An-Nahdloh Islamic Boarding School, and the PCI NU (Special Branch Executive of Nahdlatul Ulama) in Malaysia for community service activities.

Presentation at the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education

The visit to the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education was a significant moment for the delegation, during which they presented plans to strengthen cooperation. This presentation was enthusiastically received by the local Ministry officials, who welcomed Unisma’s offer of cooperation for the next 5 to 10 years.

Following up on the visit by the Rector, Vice Rector 1, Vice Rector 2, and the leadership of Unisma’s Postgraduate Program last April, the Unisma delegation continued its visit to several institutions in Malaysia, including Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education, and the leadership of the Special Branch of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCINU) in Malaysia.

This spirit of international collaboration was demonstrated through concrete follow-up actions, with the departure of 21 Unisma Postgraduate lecturers, comprising the Director of the Postgraduate Program, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, PhD, the Deputy Director, the Heads of Study Programs, and home-base lecturers from the Postgraduate Program.

This visit was facilitated by the Office of International Affairs (KUI) at Unisma Malang and led institutionally by Unisma’s First Vice Rector, Prof. Junaidi Mistar, M.Pd., in accordance with his primary duties and functions.

Activities at Universiti Teknologi MARA

The Heads of Study Programs and the Dean of the Faculty of Law were also enthusiastic about carrying out joint program activities at Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia (UiTM). Some time ago, UiTM had sent their students and faculty members to participate in similar activities at Unisma. All of this was done with the aim of strengthening the spirit of becoming a World Class University.

A delegation from the Unisma Malang Postgraduate Program was received by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Hafizah Hj. Mohamed Harith, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies, along with senior officials from the Postgraduate Program, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Business and Management, and the Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies at UiTM.

The visit continued with a tour of the Academy of Language Studies and the Faculty of Education at UiTM Malaysia. This series of activities represents a concrete step following the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Rector of Unisma Malang and the Vice-Chancellor of UiTM Malaysia. Some of the activities carried out include joint research and publication, visiting professor/guest lecture programs, and community development initiatives.

Additionally, a meeting between the leadership of the postgraduate program at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, the Indonesian School in Kuala Lumpur, and the An-Nahdah Islamic Boarding School in Malaysia took place in a productive and substantive manner.

These international activities have a measurable impact and are directly related to strengthening all study programs in an effort to achieve recognition as a world-class university. Through this international collaboration, Unisma continues to strive to improve the quality of higher education and build its reputation globally.
