UNISMA’s Master’s Candidate Community Service (KMM) program at STKIP Modern Ngawi involves master’s students in Mathematics Education. This initiative focuses on training in research proposal writing using information technology, helping senior students complete their research assignments smoothly. The event was attended by 46 Mathematics Education students and covered topics such as types of research, the use of “Publish & Parish” software to search for international journal articles, Mendeley for synthesizing research references, and ChatGPT for processing grant proposal information.
KMM event, which is an initiative of Master’s students in Mathematics Education at UNISMA, was held on November 8, 2023, at STKIP Modern Ngawi. During the event, Juliyat Hadi Sobirin, Samsul Ma’arif, and Lina Rumiati, as the organizers, focused the training on final-year students at STKIP Modern Ngawi, particularly those in the Mathematics Education program. Information technology served as the primary foundation of the training, with an emphasis on utilizing software such as “Publish & Parish” to search for international journal articles, Mendeley to synthesize research references, and ChatGPT to support information processing for proposal drafting. As a follow-up, the KMM activity continued on November 25, 2023, aiming to improve the skills of undergraduate students in Mathematics Education in writing research proposals, providing a strong foundation to face future research challenges.
The training methods employed involved expert speakers in the field of research, and participants were encouraged to actively use information technology. Master’s students in Mathematics Education from the Islamic University of Malang enthusiastically succeeded in creating an effective forum for transferring knowledge and skills to the undergraduate participants, particularly those from the Mathematics Education Program at STKIP Modern Ngawi.
KMM events are not just training sessions; they reflect positive collaboration between educational institutions. Master’s students share valuable experiences and knowledge with undergraduate students, strengthening synergy between the two levels of education. It is hoped that this close collaboration will improve the overall quality of education and strengthen the presence of research in the field of Mathematics Education, providing a strong foundation for the development of knowledge in the future. The success of this KMM serves as a positive reflection of the role of information technology in enhancing the quality and relevance of education in an ever-evolving era.
