UNISMA’s Doctoral Candidate Service Program Holds National Seminar at Bilfath University

Several students currently enrolled in the Doctoral Candidate Service Program (KDM) at Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) held a National Seminar at Bilfath University in Lamongan. This event was an important part of the collaboration between these two higher education institutions and was held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

The Doctoral Candidate Service Program (KDM) at UNISMA is an integral part of the third-semester curriculum for doctoral students. The five students conducting the KDM at this university are KH. Abdullah Sam, Mr. M. Abdul Azis, KH. Ahasanul Haq, Mr. Rameli, and Mr. Nur Ilahin.

The National Seminar concluded successfully as the closing event of a series of Community Service Doctoral Candidate activities. The event was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Bilfath University. Dr. Sya’roni stated that this activity is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation between Bilfath University and UNISMA. It is hoped that this cooperation will have a positive impact on students in applying multicultural Islamic values within the university environment.

In his remarks, Dr. Sya’roni said, “This event is a joint effort to promote the understanding and practice of multicultural Islam on campus, as a positive step toward strengthening unity and solidarity amidst diversity.” The seminar was attended by approximately 100 students from the Faculty of Islamic Studies at Bilfath University.

The importance of reinforcing multicultural Islamic values was also emphasized in the seminar materials. One of the doctoral students serving the community, Ahsan, emphasized that “the challenge for students in the future is to maintain national unity so that the nation does not become divided due to differences.” Additionally, Abdullah highlighted the crucial role of religious moderation in realizing diversity as a blessing.

This event involved the five doctoral students serving the community from UNISMA, who took turns presenting materials related to multicultural Islam. They hope that their contributions will positively contribute to the nation’s sustainability, keeping Indonesia united, safe, and peaceful in the spirit of diversity and tolerance. (KDM/AL/PPS)
