The Rector of Universitas Islam Malang (Unisma), Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si, stated that Unisma graduates must serve as agents of change and innovators in their respective communities. This message was delivered at the 72nd Graduation Ceremony held on January 6, 2024, on the 7th floor of the Postgraduate Building.
In his remarks, Prof. Maskuri expressed his hope that every Unisma graduate would not only become an expert in their field of study but also an agent of change capable of improving their surrounding environment.
“Being a muharrik is an individual’s responsibility toward the knowledge they possess, the trust entrusted to them, and their moral responsibility toward society. By becoming a muharrik, the institutions in which you are involved will see positive changes and foster an atmosphere of progress,” he stated.

Furthermore, this professor of Islamic Religious Education also encouraged alumni to become mujaddids in their communities. According to Prof. Maskuri, being a mujaddid means thinking and contributing with new ideas that offer broader and better benefits for society.
On the same occasion, the Director of Unisma’s Postgraduate Program, Prof. Masud Said, MM., Ph.D., also emphasized the importance of institutional capability. It was explained that institutional capability is an integrated collection of people, processes, and technology that creates value by helping the organization consistently perform better than its competitors.
“The key to developing institutional capabilities lies in VECTOR, which consists of: Vision and Leadership, Employees, Culture and Mindset, Technology, Organization, and Routine,” added Prof. Masud Said.
It is hoped that these messages will inspire Unisma graduates to continue growing and making positive contributions to bring about change in their communities, as well as to apply the VECTOR concept as a foundation for institutional capacity development across various aspects of life. (AL/PPS)
