Unisma Rector Applauds Achievement of Thesis-Free Graduation

Unisma Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si, applauded the achievement of graduate-level students graduating without completing a thesis. This appreciation was expressed during the monitoring and evaluation (Monev) of curriculum implementation, collaborations, and MBKM programs within Postgraduate Studies program. The Monev was held today (June 7, 2022) at East Java Study Center.

The leaders of Universitas Islam Malang are ready to support efforts to improve graduate quality. This support takes the form of policies and budget allocations to enhance study programs. The university administration is prepared to allocate up to 100 million rupiah in funding for study programs that demonstrate unique development and a leap in creativity.

During this monitoring and evaluation, UNISMA’s rector was accompanied by university leadership, including: Vice Rector 1 Prof. Junaidi Mistar, Ph.D., Vice Rector 2 Noor Shodiq Askandar, SE., MM., and Vice Rector 4 Dr. Ir. Istirohah Pujiwati, M.P. Also present were university officials, heads of doctoral and master’s programs, faculty members, and staff from Unisma’s postgraduate programs.

Prof. Maskuri also implemented a policy allowing online classes specifically for non-Javanese and non-Madurese students. This policy supports Unisma’s promotion in creative and diverse ways. Improving the quality of graduates by emphasizing learning quality, in essence, a form of Unisma’s promotion. Additionally, the Rector established a policy for vocational high school (SMK) students to undertake internships at Unisma.

The Rector expressed his appreciation after Director of Postgraduate Programs delivered a presentation. In the evaluation, the director reported progress covering: accreditation readiness, the status of academic activities, the number of partnerships, partnership outcomes, and the student admission process. This included achievements regarding the graduation of students without a thesis.

The Vice Rector 2 of Unisma stated that in order to encourage increased productivity in faculty and student journals, the Unisma team has now formed a Scientific Journal Publication Team. Therefore, please make the most of this resource. The team will also provide specialized training for faculty members who have scientific publications.

Head of BPM, Mahayu Woro Lestari, commented on the performance of postgraduate collaboration. Collaborations with high weighting for research and international collaboration. Ms. Woro also emphasized the importance of data in the PD DIKTI system for accreditation purposes. Fahmi Hidayatullah noted that the courses with special weighting are specialized skill courses.

It is hoped that this monitoring and evaluation will serve as a catalyst for Unisma’s postgraduate performance in terms of education, research, community service, as well as promotion and institutional development. (AL/PPS)
