Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) celebrated its 42nd anniversary on March 27, 2023, at Gedung Bundar Asy’ari. The theme of Anniversary celebration was “The Spirit of Caring for the World, Building Civilization Through the Realization of an Entrepreneurial University Toward a World-Class University.”
Unisma has achieved numerous accomplishments over its 42-year history. One of these is its top national ranking in research performance and community service. Unisma also publishes 16 Sinta-indexed journals, with several set to be upgraded for Scopus indexing. These achievements demonstrate Unisma’s ability to compete at both the national and international levels.

In his speech, Unisma’s Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si., stated that the theme chosen for this anniversary aims to encourage the entire Unisma academic community to apply the principles of an Entrepreneurial University. This is intended to ensure Unisma can continue improving the quality of education and provide added value in building a better civilization in Indonesia, grounded in Islamic values.
As a university that has been in existence for 42 years, Unisma has contributed significantly to the world of education in Indonesia. With the spirit of the Entrepreneurial University, Unisma is expected to continue to develop and become a World Class University that competes on the global stage. This 42nd Anniversary event serves as an important moment for Unisma to reflect on itself and plan for a better future.

The Governor of East Java, represented by the Mayor of Batu, Aries Agung Paewai, delivered remarks at the event. He expressed optimism about producing outstanding graduates capable of competing on the global stage. The Governor also expressed growing confidence in Unisma following the outcomes of its collaboration with the East Java Provincial Government.
During this anniversary celebration, Unisma received support from several prominent figures from various regions. Among them were: Badrut Tamam, Munjidah Wabab, the Rector of Universitas Teknokrat, the Rector of Unissa Brunei, Vincent Picket, Ph.D. (Ambassador of the European Union), and Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc. (Acting Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture).
The event was also attended by other prominent figures, such as KH. Dr. Marzuki Mustamar, M.Ag., (Chairman of PWNU East Java), Dr. H. Isroqunnajah, M.Ag (Chairman of PCNU Malang City), Aries Agung Paewai (Acting Mayor of Batu), and the Foundation’s Advisor.
