Universitas Islam Malang’s Postgraduate Program is now accepting new students for its Master’s in Islamic Religious Education through a dedicated scholarship pathway for Diniyah Madrasah (Madin) teachers, for the 2021/2022 academic year. The scholarship is offered in partnership with the East Java Provincial Government, which specifically funds this program for Diniyah madrasah instructors.
Requirements
- Complete the administrative selection process by submitting required documents to the committee.
- Be a legal resident of East Java, verified by a valid ID card (KTP).
- Be no older than 45 at the time of application.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (S1).
- Hold an appointment letter from a foundation or Islamic boarding school foundation confirming service as a Diniyah madrasah or pesantren teacher for at least three years, accompanied by the madrasah’s official establishment permit.
- Obtain a recommendation letter from the sponsoring boarding school or foundation.
- Pass an internal examination (aptitude test, Arabic, and English) administered by Unisma’s Postgraduate Program.
- Pass a reading examination on the Fathul Mu’in text, administered by East Java’s Institute for Diniyah Education Development (LPPD).
- Agree to reimburse all education costs incurred if the program is not completed.

Application Process
- Stage I: Administrative selection of candidates conducted by the Islamic higher education institution (PTKI) in partnership with the East Java Provincial Government and LPPD East Java.
- Stage II: Internal candidate selection conducted by the PTKI.
- Stage III: Candidates who pass Stage II proceed to the Fathul Mu’in reading examination, administered by the East Java Provincial Government in partnership with LPPD East Java. This stage takes place at Unisma.

What does the Madin scholarship cover?
The scholarship covers all tuition fees (registration and semester fees) for four semesters. Living costs, textbooks, and course materials are not included.
Which majors are eligible to apply?
Priority is given to applicants from Islamic studies backgrounds, including Bachelor’s in Islamic Religious Education, Bachelor’s in Arabic Language, Bachelor’s in Elementary Islamic Education (PGMI), and Bachelor’s in Islamic Family Law (Ahwal Asy-Syakhsiyah).
How many scholarship slots are available?
20 students.
Which days are classes held?
Classes are held two days a week, scheduled between Monday and Saturday. No classes are held on Sundays.
