The Postgraduate Director declared cadre formation a major undertaking within Nahdlatul Ulama, speaking as a guest speaker for the Aswaja Islamic Studies Program (KISWA), themed “Organizational Structure and Cadre Formation Toward NU’s Second Century.”
KISWA is a program run by the Institute for Aswaja Islamic Studies (LPIK), designed to deepen Islamic knowledge and practice among students and the broader academic community.

As NU moves toward its second century, the organization must strengthen both its organizational structure (nidhomiyah) and its cadre formation efforts. Reinforcing that structure carries particular weight, echoing the words attributed to Sayidina Ali Karramallahu Wajhah: “Truth without organization will be defeated by falsehood that is organized” — al-haqqu bila nidhom, yughlibuhul bathilu bila nidhom.
Cadre formation stands as one of the central issues NU faces heading into its second century, alongside social leadership, spiritual leadership, organizational governance, and broader movement building. NU pursues cadre formation through multiple channels, including organizational training programs (MKNU/PKP NU), Ma’arif educational institutions, and professional and diaspora-focused cadre development.

NU has expanded its presence across professional sectors, with wings including the Association of Graduates, the Lecturers Association, the Physicians Association, the Teachers Association, and several others.
The organization also holds significant potential within its overseas diaspora. Special branches have now been established across numerous countries, spanning Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. (AL/NAD/PPS)
