Students in a Master’s program in Notary (MKn) completed the Master’s Candidate Community Service Program (KMM) by establishing a laws clinic. The laws clinic was held on Friday, December 9, 2022, in Dinoyo, Lowokwaru, Malang City. The event featured two practicing legal experts as speakers: Dr. I Isy Karimah Syakir, S.H., M.H., M.Kn., and Elisatin Ernawati, S.H., M.Kn.
Elisatin Ernawati, S.H., M.Kn., acknowledged that legal issues in society continue to evolve, ranging from land-related matters to business issues, underscoring the critical importance of businesses having legal standing. Family law matters are equally significant, including marriage, inheritance, gifts, and property transactions.
The KMM program, initiated by the Postgraduate Program at Universitas Islam Malang and implemented for the first time within the Notary Master’s Program, is expected to provide solutions and facilitate the implementation of legal provisions in society. It is hoped that the KMM will deliver solutions aligned with the functions of law: ensuring justice, public benefit, and legal certainty.

In his remarks, Mokhamad Kairi, SE, as Head of Dinoyo Village, stated that enlightening activities in the field of law, such as today’s event, should be followed up through continuous collaboration. This collaboration is intended to ensure that academic institutions, with their legal scholars and professionals, can assist residents in need of legal solutions.
Mokhamad Kairi, SE, explained that Dinoyo residents face legal issues regarding land matters and business legality. The legal status of businesses established as legal entities will further drive economic sector progress, indirectly improving family well-being.
In his presentation as an introduction to law clinics, the first speaker, who serves as the Regional Chair of IIPPAT for East Java Province, explained the role of the Land Deed Officer (PPAT) in land registration and their 8 (eight) authorities related to land matters. These authorities include drafting deeds for: sale and purchase, gifts, exchanges, granting of mortgage rights, inbreng, APHB, granting of right of use, and issuance of SKMHT.

Law clinic attended by approximately 100 participants, consisting of residents from the Dinoyo neighborhood and Master’s students in Notary. Residents were very enthusiastic about attending the law clinic provided so that they may continue to find solutions to legal problems in the future.
A lively discussion took place regarding land rights issues and disputes. Residents also sought advice on the importance of business entities in supporting and strengthening the economy in the Dinoyo neighborhood.
