Master’s Program in Management Reviews Curriculum and Establishes Key Competencies

Master’s Program in Management reviewed its curriculum and established the key competencies that its graduates will possess. The event was organized as a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), held on Friday, January 17, 2020.

The event was opened by the Deputy Director of Postgraduate Programs and proceeded smoothly. Dr. H. Nur Fajar Arief, M.Pd., stated that university assessments are based on 9 Competency Standards that place a strong emphasis on learning outcomes as a challenge that must be overcome. The implications of these 9 Competency Standards can support Unisma’s milestone as a research university. The MM program’s flagship competency is Change Management; therefore, the First Deputy Director also suggested that this strength become an integral part of every academic course taught.

Furthermore, the Head of Master in Management Program explained that the FGD was held due to the recognition of postgraduate programs as Unisma’s primary pillar for realizing its vision as a research university. In addition, there is a need to identify the program’s distinctive features, comply with SINTA 3 publication requirements, and determine the course curriculum composition. Dr. Pardiman, MM, also outlined the draft of the MM program’s distinctive features, particularly regarding the graduate profile aligned with the National Congress of Indonesian Management Forum (FMI), namely as Executives, Management Consultants, and Researchers.

Prof. Dr. Nurhajati, MS, a professor in independence and entrepreneurship development, emphasized the need for admission tests for new students. She also supports and agrees that the concept of Change Management should be integrated into all courses.

Suluh Wahtu Pambudi, SE, a student and economic practitioner, stated that leadership and a competitive mindset are crucial for Unisma graduates. These qualities can be instilled in students through the encouragement and inspiration provided by alumni to younger students who are still pursuing their studies.

Prof. Dr. A. Yusuf Imam Suja’i, MP, emphasized the need for alignment between prerequisite courses and their subsequent courses. Some courses are not yet aligned and need to be reviewed. The Full Professor in Financial Management, Investment Management, and Managerial Economics also suggested the inclusion of courses with an international focus.

In closing, Dr. Pardiman, MM, head of the MM program at Unisma, stated that all feedback and suggestions would be accepted and acted upon. “Furthermore, curriculum improvements will also be implemented immediately,” he emphasized during the meeting in the Conference Room on the 3rd floor of Ali Bin Abi Tolib Building.
