Bojonegoro Regional Secretary, Dra. Nurul Azizah, MM, stated that she is a UNISMA alumnus while serving as a guest lecturer for Administrative Science on Saturday, January 18, 2020. She also invited UNISMA academics to come and contribute to Bojonegoro.

Dra. Nurul Azizah, MM., received a commemorative gift from UNISMA Rector in KH. Masykur Meeting Room on the 4th floor of Abu Bakar Ash-Shidiq Building.

Dra. Nurul Azizah, MM., began by having the Regional Secretary introduce the profile and history of Bojonegoro. This regency, headquartered on Jl. Raden Mas Tumapel, is home to the Samin culture, pioneered by Samin Surasentika.

Bojonegoro faces a variety of natural disaster risks and opportunities. The region possesses oil and gas deposits accounting for 25–30% of Indonesian reserves. Revenue sharing with the central government can reach 6.6T. Droughts and floods frequently strike this region, giving rise to the local saying, “If it’s dry, men can’t work; if it’s flooded, they can’t sleep.” Over the past 20 years, Bojonegoro has also ranked among the top 10 regions in East Java in terms of poverty rate. Only in 2017 was declared to have moved to 11th place.

Assisted by Ir. I Nyoman Sudana, MM., an alumnus of Faculty of Economics and Business (FIA), she explained the structure of Regional Budget (APBD) and the strategic programs implemented by Bojonegoro Regency Government. Indeed, when viewed from the perspective of local revenue (PAD) relative to the total APBD, Bojonegoro is a region that is not yet self-sufficient. However, revenue from transfer funds from the central government is actually also a result of the natural resources found in Bojonegoro.

The Q&A session during the guest lecture was lively. As an alumna, Ms. Nurul Azizah was naturally delighted to reconnect with UNISMA. Other strategic initiatives can certainly be developed through a cooperation agreement. As the head of administration, she stated about her readiness to implement any agreement to be established between UNISMA and the Regent of Bojonegoro. (AL/PPS)
