Master’s Program in Law (MIH) of Postgraduate Program, Universitas Islam Malang, held final thesis defense sessions for five students on Saturday, 27 June 2020. The examinations were conducted under strict health protocols, including mandatory face mask use and physical distancing.
Sri Hariyani, Rudi Cahyono, Sri Bintang Gelang, and Ramdani each defended their research in person before the examination panel, while Rufia Wahyuning Pratiwi participated in her session online.

Sri Hariyani presented her research titled “The Effectiveness of Mediation in Resolving Divorce Cases at Pasuruan Religious Court.” The panel featured Dr. H. Abdul Wahid, SH., M.Ag. as the principal examiner, alongside Dr. H. Muhammad Muhibbin, SH., M.Hum., Head of Master’s Program in Law, and Dr. Sunardi, SH., MH. as examiners.
The session continued with a presentation by Rudi Cahyono on his thesis titled “The Implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by PT. POMI in Bhinor Village, Paiton District, Probolinggo Regency.” The study is empirical juridical research employing a sociological juridical approach, with data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation.

The research yielded two key findings: first, the implementation of CSR was realised through oyster mushroom cultivation, a waste bank programme, Giant Ginger (Jahe Gajah) cultivation, screen-printing training, and longan fruit farming. Second, the research identified the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of CSR in Bhinor Village.
The third candidate, Sri Bintang Gelang, presented research titled “The Formulation of Presidential Accountability in a Presidential System of Government.” This normative juridical study employed both a conceptual approach and a statute approach, addressing two core questions concerning presidential accountability.
The fourth session featured Ramdani, who presented normative juridical research titled “Guarantees for the Protection of Children’s Rights within Indonesia’s Juvenile Criminal Justice System.” The study addresses the nature and forms of guarantees for the protection of children’s rights within Indonesia’s juvenile justice system.

The final session was attended by Rufia Wahyuning Pratiwi, who participated via video teleconference. Having recently given birth to her second child, she presented a thesis titled “Legal Protection Against the Neglect of Child Support Payment Obligations Following Divorce, Based on Rulings of Blitar Religious Court.”
All five students received a grade of A in their final defense sessions, having demonstrated a strong and convincing command of their respective research. Congratulations on your graduation! (NAD/AL/PPS)
