Application of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) at UNISMA Postgraduate Program

Malang – Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, Director of Postgraduate Program, presented the concepts of good governance, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance (Governance, Risk, and Compliance, GRC) in postgraduate program management during a coordination meeting to usher in a new era and evaluate performance on April 11, 2022.

This GRC concept is drawn from the core of modern management practices applied in business, corporate, banking, and government sectors, as well as in modern universities; if we want to progress and achieve excellence, we must take this step.

He presented this GRC concept to the leadership and staff of Postgraduate Program on the 3rd floor of East Java Study Center at Unisma. “Today, GRC must be the standard for our work,” stated East Java Provincial Education Council Advisor.

Mas’ud emphasized that in modern management, all activities, plans, and programs must align with the principles of good governance. There must be no decision-making errors, policy errors, or mismanagement in operations, which could reduce existing achievements.

Furthermore, Mas’ud, who has experience leading organizations in the academic, non-governmental organization (NGO), and business sectors, explained the importance of caution and careful planning to avoid risks (risk management).

“We can’t just rush it; we must be thoroughly calculated, because if we suffer losses and fail to account for the risks, many of our good intentions will be undermined by reckless policies and personal actions,” he explained. (MMS/AL/PPS)
