Malang, East Java – Discussions during Universitas Islam Malang’s visit to Universitas PGRI Madiun (Unipma) were both engaging and intensive, reflecting strong mutual interest in collaboration. The meeting, a continuation of earlier partnership initiatives, was held at Unipma’s Campus 3 on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Unisma Vice Rector IV, Dr. Jeffry Handhika, M.Pd., expressed his enthusiasm for the visit and the emerging partnership. He noted that the collaboration could serve as a milestone in advancing the quality of higher education at both institutions.
Deputy Director II of Unisma’s Graduate School, Dr. Rulam Ahmadi, M.Pd., underscored the importance of collaboration and institutional synergy in strengthening academic quality. He emphasized that such partnerships are also assessed during on-site accreditation evaluations of study programs.
Existing Collaboration and New Prospects
Dr. Surya Sari Faradiba, M.Pd., Head of Unisma’s Master’s Program in Mathematics Education, reported that the program had previously organized guest lectures involving Unipma academics. However, in the absence of a formal agreement, these activities have yet to be formally recognized as part of structured and well-documented collaboration.
Responding to this, Dean of Unipma’s Graduate School, Dr. Dwi Setyadi, M.Pd., welcomed the discussion and initiated dialogue on potential areas of cooperation that could be pursued in the near term.
Partnership Proposals and Knowledge Exchange
Head of Unipma’s Master’s Program in Indonesian Language Education, Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, M.Pd., proposed several collaborative initiatives, including guest lectures, reviewer exchanges, and joint scientific conferences as feasible short-term academic activities.
His counterpart at Unisma, Dr. Akhmad Tabrani, M.Pd., welcomed the proposals and shared insights on the importance of enhancing study program quality through international accreditation, including the processes involved.

The visit resulted in constructive and dynamic discussions, with multiple collaboration proposals put forward. Both institutions expressed optimism that these initiatives would soon be formalized through official agreements, paving the way for improved higher education quality at both universities.
