Inda Brilliant: UNISMA’s Top Master’s Graduate with Publication in a Sinta 2-Indexed Journal

Malang, (28/06)  – The top graduate of the Master’s program at Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) this period is Inda Brilliant. True to her name, Inda graduated brilliantly, not only earning cumlaude honours with a perfect GPA of 4.00, but also succeeding in publishing an article in Sinta 2-indexed journal.

This publishing achievement exceeds the minimum threshold set by the university’s Rector regarding article publication requirements. UNISMA’s Rector requires Master’s degree candidates to publish at least one article in Sinta 3-indexed journal as a graduation prerequisite.

Inda recounted that the process from submission through to publication of her article took place during her second semester. The article originated as a coursework assignment, which she then submitted to the journal INJECT (Interdisciplinary Journal of Communication).

A graduate of Master’s program in Islamic Family Law, Inda authored an article titled “Islamic Legal Communication in the Determination of Wali Adhal: A Comparative Study of Indonesia and Morocco.” The article was subsequently developed further into her thesis, titled “The Interaction of Norms and Practice in the Determination of Wali ‘Adhal: A Comparative Study of Islamic Law in Indonesia and Morocco.”

Inda shared that becoming the top postgraduate is not about who is the most intelligent, but rather about who is able to persevere when the process grows difficult. Behind this achievement lie countless nights spent reading, writing, revising, and learning to manage setbacks along the way.

In the process of preparing both her thesis and scientific articles, Inda acknowledged receiving outstanding academic supervision. Her advisors offered constructive feedback, were meticulous throughout every stage of revision, and continually motivated her to produce the highest-quality scholarly work.

“From that process, I learned that research is not merely about completing an assignment, but also about cultivating a critical and responsible way of thinking,” she added.

Throughout her studies, Inda also benefited from the tuition discounts UNISMA provides to its alumni. As a graduate of UNISMA’s undergraduate program, Inda found significant support in the 25 percent tuition fee (SPP) discount available to her for continuing her studies at the Master’s level.

“That policy allowed me to focus more closely on my coursework, research, and the development of my academic skills,” she concluded.

Inda Brilliant’s achievement is expected to serve as a source of motivation and inspiration for all students of Universitas Islam Malang to continue striving for the highest academic accolades, both on the national and international stage.
