Malang, July 24, 2024 – The Director of Postgraduate Studies at UNISMA, Mas’ud Said, commended alumni who have persistently pursued overseas scholarships. One of them is Ja’far Shodiq, a graduate of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA), Public Administration Study Program at UNISMA, who has secured a scholarship at National Pingtung University (NPTU) in Taiwan.
Ja’far Shodiq said he has now been accepted at NPTU, majoring in STEM Education. “I applied for scholarships 11 times. I was once accepted for a scholarship in Russia, but due to the outbreak of the Russia–Ukraine War, my parents did not give their approval,” he explained.
According to Prof. Mas’ud, Ja’far represents a graduate who independently and persistently pursued scholarship opportunities. “This is an example of an outstanding alumnus with strong motivation,” he said.
Ja’far revealed that his motivation to study abroad originated from Prof. Mas’ud’s lecture during a Basic Leadership Training program in 2018. The session, he said, deeply inspired him to pursue higher education overseas.
“Thank you, Professor, for appreciating our achievements,” Ja’far said gratefully.
In addition to Ja’far Shodiq, two other alumni are also currently in the process of pursuing international scholarships, including Faishol Arifin, who is applying for several programs abroad.
The Postgraduate Director is also mentoring a postgraduate staff member, Aliyul Murtadlo, who is applying this year for the Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) scholarship.
Prof. Mas’ud shared a message of encouragement, saying, “Believe that relationships, networking, parents’ prayers, hard work, and maximizing one’s talents are the path to success.”
The recognition from Prof. Mas’ud is expected to motivate more alumni to pursue their aspirations, including through international scholarship opportunities. Ja’far Shodiq’s commitment and perseverance demonstrate that UNISMA alumni can open doors to global opportunities and contribute on the international stage.
