Friday (November 20), Unisma Postgraduate Program’s Master’s in Law (MIH) program held thesis defenses for five students. The sessions were conducted as closed examinations, each before a panel of three examiners.
The first candidate, Nurochman, defended “Strategies Employed by Regional Legislative Councils in Building Good and Accountable Governance,” a qualitative study centered on the Batu City Regional Legislative Council (DPRD). The second candidate, M. Syamsul Arief, presented “Local Public Broadcasting Institution (LPPL) Agropolitan Television: Between Public Service Function and Media Industry,” a study analyzing Batu City Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2009 and Law No. 40 of 1999.

Diana Kartika Suci became the third candidate to defend her research before the examining board, with a study titled “Modus Operandi of Banking Crimes and Countermeasures in Indonesia.” The fourth candidate, Bagus Widyatmoko, presented “The Crime of Murder Involving Dismemberment of Victims’ Bodies from a Legal and Criminological Perspective.”
The final candidate, Wigit Adi S., presented “Criminal Law and Criminological Perspectives on Illegal Fishing in Indonesia.”
The defenses were held in person in Room 4.5, Unisma Postgraduate Building. Dr. Sunardi, SH., M.Hum, Head of the Master’s in Notary Law Program; Dr. Muhibbin, SH., M.Hum, Head of the MIH Program; and Dr. Abdul Wahid, SH., M.Ag, alternated as Chief Examiners across the sessions.
