UNISMA Indonesian Language Education Master’s Students Present Pitch Decks, Pioneering Creative Entrepreneurship in Language and Literature

Malang, 17 July 2026 – Master’s Program in Indonesian Language Education (MPBI) at Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) held a creative entrepreneurship pitch deck presentation event on Friday (17/7/2026) in Multicultural Room, 3rd Floor of UNISMA Postgraduate Building. The hybrid event was held under the theme “Unearthing Ideas, Inspiring Innovation, Building the Future of Language and Literature,” and was attended by practitioner lecturers, students, and representatives from the Indonesian Language Subject Teacher Consultative Groups (MGMP) of Malang City, Malang Regency, and Batu City.

The event featured Ir. Brahmadhita Pratama Mahardhika, S.Pt., M.Si., IPP., Head of Business Incubator Centre at UNISMA’s Institute for Entrepreneurship Development and Business Incubation (LPKIB), as the principal discussant. In his presentation, he outlined various LPKIB program relevant to student creative business development, while also providing evaluative feedback and constructive input on each pitch deck presented by the students.

In her opening remarks, Head of the MPBI Program Prof. Dr. Hj. Dyah Werdiningsih, M.Pd., affirmed that the event is a tangible manifestation of a curriculum responsive to the demands of global competitiveness, as well as a reinforcement of the professional and entrepreneurial competencies of postgraduate students. “MPBI students do not merely learn within the classroom, they are also called to sharpen their professional skills and make a real contribution to society. Creative entrepreneurship in the field of language and literature is one of the pathways to realising that,” said Prof. Dyah.

MPBI student teams presented their innovation products across a range of spectrums. Under the Edu-Linguistic Start-up spectrum, students presented a BIPA (Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers) Learning Platform based on the Tourism and Culture of Banyuwangi, as well as a Digital Literacy Module rooted in Local Wisdom. Under the Content Industry and Digital Literature spectrum, students showcased a Folklore Video Storytelling Prototype, a Reflective Podcast, and Cerita Nusantara (Archipelago Stories). Under the Publishing and Creative Literacy spectrum, students presented Rumah Literasi, a platform for creative literacy development.

The Creative Entrepreneurship in Language and Literature course is designed to equip students with five core competencies: innovation, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. All framed within the context of business development in the language and literature sector. The event also strengthened the literacy network across Malang Raya, in line with the collaborative partnerships already established between UNISMA and various community partners and educational institutions.

Through this event, it is hoped that a new generation of entrepreneurs in the field of language and literature will emerge individuals who are not only academically competent, but who also possess a robust entrepreneurial spirit and are capable of contributing to the advancement of the Indonesian language and literature. Creativity is the fuel of innovation, language is its bridge, and literature is its inspiration. The MPBI Program remains committed to developing educators and researchers in Indonesian language and literature who are competent, innovative, and entrepreneurially minded.
