The Doctoral Program of UNISMA Postgraduate Program has conferred a new doctoral degree upon Dr. Drs. Elvi Wahyudi, MM., in the field of Multicultural Islamic Religious Education. The doctoral promotion was held in the KH Masjkur examination chamber, Abu Bakar As-Shiddiq Building, 4th Floor, on 16 June 2019 at 11:00 WIB.
The New Normal conditions were taken into consideration in the decision to proceed with the open examination in person, albeit with limited attendance. The examination was, however, made accessible to the general public via live streaming on UNISMA Humas Official YouTube Channel.

The examination was chaired by UNISMA Rector Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si., who concurrently served as the fourth examiner, assisted by Postgraduate Program Director Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, MM., Ph.D., who served concurrently as examination secretary.
During the examination, candidate Elvi Wahyudi presented his dissertation titled “The Cultivation of Multicultural Islamic Religious Education Values at the Government Nursing Academy of Gresik Regency.” The study employed a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach.

The first examiner, Prof. Dr. Imam Suprayogo, examined and reinforced the content dimension of the dissertation among other things, strengthening the conceptual framing of insan kamil and the nature of moral education (pendidikan akhlak).
The second examiner was a UNISMA alumna who has since become a professor at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Prof. Dr. Zumrotul Mukaffa, M.Ag. She offered comments on the educational and learning process as articulated in the dissertation, particularly with regard to the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation.

The next examiner was the Director of the Postgraduate Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Sumbulah, M.Ag. While expressing interest in the dissertation’s title, she noted that the work still required further refinement.
The fourth examiner, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si., highlighted the need to incorporate the existing learning model at the Nursing Academy, with a view to developing and offering it as a genuinely novel model not previously proposed. Prof. Mas’ud then offered remarks on technical matters, including page count and data presentation.
The examination continued with commentary from the fourth examiner who also serves as promotor, Prof. Djunaidi Ghony, followed by co-promotor Prof. Dr. Yaqub Cikusin, M.Si., both of whom provided constructive recommendations for revision.
Elvi Wahyudi was declared to have passed and is duly entitled to use the doctoral title in accordance with applicable legislation upon completion of the graduation ceremony (yudisium). (AL/NAD/PPS)
