The Doctoral Program in Islamic Religious Education at Universitas Islam Malang awarded four new Doctoral Degrees in June 2025. The graduates are Mohammad Nadhif, Muhammad Najib, Mochamad Faizin and Nur Ilahin.
Mohammad Nadhif and Muhammad Najib were examined by Prof. Junaidi Mistar, M.Pd., Ph.D., Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, M.M., Ph.D., Prof. Nur Syam, M.Si., Prof. H. Maskuri, M.Si., Prof. Djunaidi Ghony and Dr. Moh. Afifulloh, M.Pd. The dissertation defense was held at the East Java Study Center, Ali Bin Abi Tholib Building, on June 16, 2025.

At the same venue on June 26, 2025, Mochamad Faizin and Nur Ilahin also defended their dissertations. They were examined by Prof. Junaidi Mistar, M.Pd., Ph.D., Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, M.M., Ph.D., Prof. Nur Syam, M.Si., Prof. H. Maskuri, M.Si., Prof. Djunaidi Ghony and Dr. Syamsu Madyan, Lc., M.A.
Mohammad Nadhif’s dissertation explored Multicultural Islamic Education at SMPN Tosari, a multi-faith district in the Tengger region. Muhammad Najib examined power relations in shaping the multicultural character of santri at Mambaul Hisan Islamic boarding school in Sidayu, Gresik.

Mochamad Faizin presented a study on the genealogy of a harmonious society within a multiethnic community, a case study in a village in Tuban. Meanwhile, Nur Ilahin analyzed social relations in the sedekah tradition among a multi-faith community in Balun Village, Lamongan.
All four candidates graduated with distinction. Najib achieved the highest honor, graduating cum laude, while Nadhif, Faizin and Ilahin graduated with high distinction.
The doctoral education process and research outcomes contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 16 on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
