Malang, July 4, 2023 – To prepare for international research, Master’s Program in Indonesian Language Education held a Workshop on Research Proposal Writing and Community Service for faculty members and students of the Master’s Program in Indonesian Language Education (MPBI).
The event, titled “The Field of Ideas and Language Research Methodology,” was held to enhance international research as part of Unisma’s efforts to enter the World University Rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds

Postgraduate Program Director, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, Ph.D., opened the event held in the East Java Studies Center, accompanied by Dr. H. Nur Fajar Arief, M.Pd, as Deputy Director 1, and Dr. Akhmad Tabrani, M.Pd, as Head of the Master’s Program in Indonesian Language Education.
As a guest speaker for this event, the MPBI invited Prof. Dr. H. Suyono, M.Pd, a professor from Malang State University who has extensive experience in writing research proposals and community service projects.

Reserach strategies, tips, and tricks
Prof. Dr. H. Suyono, M.Pd, presented material to workshop participants on how to write effective research and community service proposals. The session covered everything from identifying a topic, formulating a research question, and developing a conceptual framework, to appropriate writing techniques and language that is easily understood by readers.
In addition, the speaker also shared tips and tricks for creating compelling and effective research and community service proposals. In his presentation, he noted that articles resulting from this research can be published in nationally and internationally accredited journals, thereby increasing Unisma’s chances of ranking among internationally recognized universities.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbud Ristek) also provided support in this regard. Kemdikbud offers grants for research and community service through the basic research, applied research, and development research schemes.
Basic research aims to develop new theories or concepts, while applied research aims to provide practical solutions to problems faced by the community. Meanwhile, development research focuses on the development of better products or processes.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. H. Suyono, M.Pd, emphasized the importance of research and community service in improving the quality of higher education. It is hoped that, through this training, faculty members and students will be able to produce more high-quality, internationally recognized research that benefits the broader community. (AL/PPS)
