Postgraduate Program Invites Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque for Guest Lecture

The guest lecture featuring Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar, MA., went smoothly, and participants listened enthusiastically to his presentation. This event was organized by UNISMA Malang’s Postgraduate Program on January 15, 2020, on the 4th floor of Abu Bakar as-Shiddiq Building.

The guest lecture was officially opened by the Director of Postgraduate Program, Prof. H. M. Mas’ud Said, MM., Ph.D., who was accompanied by the First Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Drs. H. Junaidi Mistar, MPd., Ph.D.

In his remarks, Director of Postgraduate Program stated that the guest speaker’s visit had been planned and eagerly anticipated for some time, as it fulfilled a mandate from Almarhum Prof. Dr. KH. M. Tholhah Hasan. Naturally, this mandate was based on good relations and consideration of the guest speaker’s academic and scholarly credentials.

The guest lecture was themed “Multicultural Islamic Education.” The speaker emphasized that an understanding of multiculturalism from an Islamic perspective can be effectively developed if it begins with an understanding of the essence and existence of all that is in this universe, and most importantly, an understanding of the Almighty, namely Allah SWT.

Furthermore, the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque elaborated on the five realms of existence: Ahadiyyah, Wahidiyyah, Jabarut, Malakut, and Syahadah.

The explanation of these various realms serves as a foundation for understanding cultural diversity and strengthening one’s faith (aqidah). The event, which lasted 3.5 hours, concluded with a prayer led by Dr. H. Muhibbin, MH. (AL/PPS)
