Malang, September 24, 2024 – As part of the OSHIKA MABA (New Student Orientation and Preparation) series at UNISMA 2024, the Director of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, MM., Ph.D., delivered motivational guidance and direction to new students.
The activity was held this morning from 06:10 to 07:30 WIB at the front courtyard of UNISMA Malang, it became one of the key events before students officially begin lectures in their respective study programs and faculties.
In his remarks, Prof. Mas’ud Said, a graduate of Flinders University, shared practical tips on achieving success both academically and in life. He reminded new students of the importance of time discipline, mastery of course materials, and building positive relationships with their study programs and faculties.
He further emphasized the importance of spiritual efforts, such as performing night prayers and honoring parents (birrul walidain), which he described as essential factors in attaining blessings in life.

“You are not only expected to excel academically but also to uphold moral and spiritual values. Do not neglect night prayers and devotion to your parents, as these will guide and support you throughout your life journey,” Prof. Mas’ud Said told hundreds of attending new students.
The event is an annual agenda consistently organized by Prof. Mas’ud Said prior to the start of the official academic schedule. In addition to providing motivation, the session also served as an opportunity for leaders of the Student Executive Board (BEM) and student organization activists (UKM) to receive direct guidance from university leadership on becoming high-achieving and actively engaged students in campus activities.
As part of the UNISMA OSHIKA MABA program, the event is expected to equip new students with strong motivation and clear guidance as they begin their academic journey and student life at UNISMA.
