Today, September 30, 2020, Student Orientation and Campus Life (OSHIKA) for new students began. Activities on the first day included the opening ceremony and an introduction to Universitas Islam Malang.
OSHIKA was attended by all new Unisma students across all degree levels, including undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. This campus orientation event was held online via video conference and YouTube live stream, as well as in person for a select group of student representatives.

The event was moderated by Dr. Imam Wahyudi Karimullah, MA, Head of Unisma’s Office of International Affairs, featured Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makariem. In his remarks, the former CEO of Gojek urged students to remain enthusiastic about learning amid the pandemic.
In addition to Nadiem, another prominent figure who attended this OSHIKA event was Dr. Ahmad Basarah, Deputy Chair of People’s Consultative Assembly of Indonesia (MPR RI). Basarah served as a speaker during the session on National Perspective.

For the Postgraduate Program itself, new students received a presentation on “Postgraduate Program Profile.” This session was led directly by the Director of Postgraduate Programs, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, Ph.D., and Deputy Director I, Dr. Nur Fajar Arief. The first day of the Postgraduate OSHIKA was conducted exclusively via video conference.

The Professor of Administrative Science even greeted student representatives from several regions, ranging from Sumatra to Sulawesi. “Zoom brings the distant closer,” he joked.
