A Website Is a Gateway to the World

The Rector of Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA), Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si, stated, “A website is a gateway to the world.” He delivered this message during the opening ceremony of the 39th Anniversary Celebration on UNISMA campus on Saturday morning, January 4, 2020.

His 20-minute speech explained the background and purpose of the chosen theme. The theme for the 39th Anniversary is “Strengthening Our Identity: Realizing a Research University on the Path to a World-Class University.” He stated that this theme is not an exaggeration, given that the university is currently developing a Professional Certification Body (LSP) and pursuing national accreditation, establishing an Office of International Affairs, strengthening the Internal Audit Unit (SPI), and promoting the development of a research university.

Key points from this impassioned speech included: “The website serves as a gateway to the world. Before any collaboration is formed, the website is the first point of access. This applies to both international and domestic institutions.” To that end, the Rector urged various UNISMA institutions to update and document every activity they undertake.

The content developed on the website is intended to strengthen and brand UNISMA as a research university. Currently, UNISMA is developing research-based management, research-based education and learning, as well as research-based student development.

These developments are solely for the purpose of serving UNISMA’s success. The Rector emphasized that the “New UNISMA” now embodies new elements in terms of work ethic, enthusiasm, and achievements. The Rector expressed his hope that UNISMA will continue to thrive, advance, grow, and contribute to both domestic and international communities. (AL/PPS)
