Postgraduate Director Leads Rollout of Unisma’s Institutional Tagline

Rector has entrusted Prof. M. Mas’ud Said with leading the team responsible for operationalizing Unisma’s tagline, “From NU for Indonesia and World Civilization,” first officially launched five years ago.

After completing a conceptual framework and implementation guide for the tagline in 2019, the university needed a targeted outreach effort to ensure leaders across the foundation, university, and faculty levels, along with unit heads throughout Unisma, fully grasped the tagline’s meaning and intent, so it could serve as a genuine working philosophy, an institutional identity, and a competitive edge over other universities.

The leadership briefing took place at KH Abdurrahman Wahid Hall, 7th floor, Postgraduate Building, on the morning of Friday, March 19, 2021, focused on explaining the three key concepts embedded within the tagline.

Over a full hour, Mas’ud walked attendees through a detailed elaboration of what each phrase in the tagline means, its underlying philosophy, how it translates into university management practice, and what the tagline is ultimately meant to achieve.

Mas’ud expressed confidence that Unisma’s institutional identity and competitive distinction can be built directly on this vision, contributing meaningfully to Indonesia’s prosperity by 2045, while playing a role in shaping global values through moderate Islam (Wasathiyah) and the Ahlusunnah wal Jamaah tradition.

No fewer than 50 participants attended, including members of the foundation’s board of trustees and Rector Maskuri Bakri, accompanied by four Deputy Rectors.

Participants offered feedback and suggestions for the implementation phase, while also expressing appreciation that this foundational concept had finally been articulated so clearly for the first time. (MMS/AL/PPS)
