Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Salatiga, specifically the Faculty of Syariah, conducted a benchmarking study visit to Postgraduate Master’s Program in Islamic Family Law at UNISMA. The study visit took place on the 4th floor of Ali Bin Abi Tholib building and was warmly received.
The delegation’s arrival on January 17, 2020, was welcomed by the leadership and faculty members of UNISMA’s postgraduate program. Faculty members in attendance included: KH. Dahlan Tamrin, M.Ag; Dr. Fajar Arief, M.Pd, serving as Deputy Director I; Dr. Moh. Afifullah; and Dwi Ari Kurniawati, S.H., M.H., serving as Program Chair and Program Secretary of the Master’s Program in Islamic Family Law.
The Dean of Faculty of Syariah IAN Salatiga expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome extended by several students in Master’s Program in Islamic Family Law. Dr. Siti Zumrotun, M.Ag, also praised Unisma for having received numerous awards.
The alumna of UIN Sunan Kalijaga in Yogyakarta stated that IAIN Salatiga is currently working toward becoming a university. In the near future, the Faculty of Sharia will launch a Master’s program in Islamic Family Law. Dr. Siti Zumrotun also introduced all the leadership members of the Faculty of Sharia at IAIN Salatiga. Several of these leaders are also activists with Nahdlatul Ulama in Salatiga.

Dr. Fajar Arief, M.Pd., introduced all the faculties and study programs at UNISMA; currently, UNISMA has a total of 15,000 students. The First Deputy Director of UNISMA’s Postgraduate Program also reported that there are currently 1,400 students enrolled in the postgraduate program. This alumnus of Universitas Negeri Malang also explained that UNISMA offers interdisciplinary courses to broaden students’ horizons.
Dr. Afifullah outlined the distinctive features and specifications of Master in Islamic Family Law (MHKI). He noted that introducing these distinctive features and specifications of the MHKI program might inspire IAIN Salatiga to develop its own MHKI program, which the institution intends to propose.
