January 16, 2024 – The Doctoral Program in Multicultural Islamic Education held an open dissertation examination for two students from Kalimantan. During the examination, Khoirul Anam Siddeh and Sukarno presented their research findings as part of the process toward earning their doctoral degrees.
Khoirul Anam Siddeh, a lecturer at Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris State Islamic University (UINSI), presented a dissertation titled “The Implementation of Multicultural Islamic Educational Values in Shaping a Tolerant Society: A Case Study of the Balikpapan City Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB).”

Furthermore, Sukarno, a lecturer from Balikpapan Tarbiyah College (STITBA), also presented his research titled “Implementation of Multicultural Islamic Religious Education Values for Children with Special Needs (ABK) at the Balikpapan City State Special School.”
Khoirul Anam Siddeh was examined by a panel of examiners consisting of 7 leading experts, including Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si., Prof. H. M. Mas’ud Said, Ph.D., Prof. Dr. H. Imam Suprayogo, Prof. H. M. Ilyasin, Prof. Drs. H. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. Djunaidi Ghony, M.A.

Sukarno’s examination process also involved 7 prominent examiners with a similar composition, with Prof. Drs. H. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D. replaced by Dr. H. M. Hanief, M.Pd.
After the examination session concluded, Khoirul Anam Siddeh shared his reflections on his academic journey at the Islamic University of Malang (Unisma), expressing his gratitude for the educational path he had undertaken. They hope that the knowledge gained will contribute significantly to the development of Multicultural Islamic Education in Indonesia.
