Prof. Masud Said Urges ISNU Malang to Embrace Gus Dur’s Spiritual Legacy

Malang, August 31, 2024 – Prof. Masud Said, Director of Postgraduate Program, called on Malang chapter of Nahdlatul Ulama Scholars Association (ISNU) to embrace the spiritual values exemplified by former Indonesian president Abdurrahman Wahid, widely known as Gus Dur. The message was delivered during the inauguration and discussion forum held at the Faculty of Education auditorium of Universitas Negeri Malang.

“My spiritual teacher is reality, and my teacher of reality is spirituality,” Prof. Masud said.

The 2024–2028 inauguration and dialogue session of ISNU Malang was attended by several Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) leaders in Malang, including KH. Dr. H. Isroqunnajah, M.Ag., KH. Muhtadi Ridlwan, and the Acting Mayor of Malang.

Dr. Alvin Mustikawan, M.Pd., Chair of ISNU Malang, invited stakeholders across the city to collaborate in advancing Malang’s development. Alongside the inauguration, ISNU Malang also launched ISNU Star, a database designed to map and document the professional expertise of ISNU members.

Meanwhile, KH. Isroqunnajah encouraged ISNU Malang members to utilize the PCNU office located on Hasyim Asy’ari Street, Malang City. “This four-story NU office building is a facility not commonly found among PCNU branches outside Java. Let us maximize the potential already available,” he said.

The event continued with a leadership forum titled “ISNU Creating and Empowering for a Prosperous Malang City,” featuring speakers Fadillah Putra, Ph.D., an academic from Universitas Brawijaya; Prof. Dr. Muslihati, M.Pd., professor at Universitas Negeri Malang; Arie Aripin, a national entrepreneur from Sawojajar; and Sudarmaji, Operations Manager of Arema FC.
