Ahead of the commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence Day, Doctoral program in Multicultural Islamic Religious Education (PAI) conferred doctoral degrees on four new scholars. The 123rd to 126th doctoral graduates include Ali Ashari and Afiful Hair, who completed their open examinations earlier, as well as Aan Abuel Hasan and Mahmud Fahrur Razi, who were examined on Tuesday (12/08/2025).
The open examinations of Aan Abuel Hasan, S.Ud., M.Pd., and Mahmud Fahrur Rozi, S.Pd., M.Pd., were chaired by UNISMA Rector Prof. Junaidi Mistar, M.Pd., Ph.D., with Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, M.M., Ph.D., serving as secretary. The board of examiners also comprised Prof. Dr. Imam Suprayogo, Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Nur Syam, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Djunaidi Ghony, and Dr. Syamsu Madyan, Lc., M.A.

Aan Abuel Hasan is an alumnus of Abdullah Faqih Institute of Islamic Studies (now Universitas KH. A. Faqih/UNKAFA) and currently serves as a lecturer at Mambaus Sholihin, Suci Mayar, Gresik.
Aan Fahrur Rozi presented his dissertation entitled “KH. Maimoen Zubair’s Thought on Religious Tolerance as the Actualization of Multicultural Islamic Education at Al-Anwar Islamic Boarding School, Sarang, Rembang.”
The promotus highlighted his findings that KH. Maimoen Zubair’s perspective on tolerance was shaped by a life marked by uncertainty. He argued that even those considered sinful or non-believers may, by God’s will, end their lives in a state of husnul khatimah.

Mahmud Fahrur Rozi presented his dissertation entitled “Pesantren Traditions Based on Multicultural Islamic Education at Sunan Drajad Islamic Boarding School, Lamongan.”
Aan Abuel Hasan was declared to have passed as the 126th doctoral graduate with cumlaude honors, while Mahmud Fahrur Rozi was awarded his doctorate as the 127th graduate with a satisfactory distinction. Congratulations.
