Universitas Islam Malang (Unisma) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Regen Power Australia. The MoU signing took place shortly before an international webinar titled “Energy Capacity Building in Indonesia.” Signed on July 17, 2020, this MoU aims to foster human resource development and the advancement of solar energy. In this context, Unisma’s Faculty of Engineering serves as the focal point for the collaboration, in line with its academic expertise.
The collaboration agenda between Unisma, Regen Power Australia, and Regen Power Indonesia was led by Dr. Imam Wahyudi Karimullah, S.Pd., M.A. The opening of webinar and the MoU signing were conducted by Unisma’s Rector, Prof. Maskuri, M.Si, accompanied by Vice Rector 1 Prof. Junaidi Mistar, M.Pd., Ph.D, Vice Rector 4 Dr. Ir. Istirochah Pujiwati, M.P., as well as the Director of Postgraduate Programs Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, Ph.D., and the Dean of Faculty of Engineering at Unisma, who led the prayer at opening of the event.
The Rector of Unisma stated that Unisma warmly welcomed the international webinar and fully supported the collaboration aimed to develop human resources and technology.

Following the MoU signing, the event continued with a webinar moderated by Efendi S. Wirateruna, S.T., M.Sc., from the International Division of Unisma’s Faculty of Engineering.
The webinar began with opening remarks by the Commissioner for Western Australia-Indonesia, Jennifer Matthews. Matthews expressed her pride in this collaboration, which marks the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Western Australia and East Java. During her remarks, Matthews also invited the Director of Western Australia’s Energy Department to present Western Australia’s capabilities and regulations in the renewable energy sector.
Following Matthews’ remarks, the Head of the Electrical Engineering Study Program at Unisma, Asst. Prof. M. Jasa Afroni, Ph.D., outlined the prospects for solar power plants in Indonesia. Given Indonesia’s vast geography, year-round sunlight, and the technology’s affordability for the public, solar power plants are clearly beneficial for Indonesia. Additionally, Afroni discussed renewable energy from a regulatory perspective and its progress in Indonesia.
At the end of the event, Prof. Chem Nayar, Director of Regen Power and Director of Radiant Solar, introduced Regen Power Australia and its development plans in Indonesia. (AL/NAD/PPS)
