UNISMA Postgraduate Program Holds Three Doctoral Closed Defenses in a Single Day

On Saturday, February 22, 2020, three doctoral candidates from Multicultural Islamic Education program underwent their closed dissertation defenses. The examinations were convened in the meeting room on the 3rd floor of UNISMA Postgraduate building.

The candidates included Abdulloh Arif Mukhlas, who presented his dissertation titled “Social Interaction in Communities Based on Multicultural Islamic Education to Promote Religious Tolerance”; Elvi Wahyudi, with a thesis titled “Multi-Religious Accommodation and the Acculturation of Multicultural-Based Religious Education Values”; and Uswatun Hasanah, who authored “Islamic Religious Education in Senenan and Selosoan Traditions for Developing Multicultural Attitudes.”

The examination board was chaired by the Director of UNISMA Postgraduate Program, Prof. H. M. Mas’ud Said, Ph.D., alongside Prof. Dr. H. Djunaidi Ghony serving as the board secretary. For the second and third sessions, the panel also included Prof. Dr. Hj. Zumrotul Mukaffa, M.Ag., Prof. Dr. Maskuri, M.Si., Prof. H. Yaqub Cikusin, M.Si., and Dr. H. Dahlan Tamrin, M.Ag. Meanwhile, Prof. Junaidi, M.Pd. served as the primary examiner for the first session.

The closed defense is a mandatory prerequisite that doctoral candidates must clear before advancing to the public doctoral promotion session, which constitutes the final milestone to attaining a doctorate degree in their respective academic disciplines. (NB/AL/PPS)
