Universitas Islam Nusantara (UNINUS) Bandung conducted a cooperation visit and benchmarking program to UNISMA’s Postgraduate Program on Thursday, July 4, 2024. The delegation from Bandung, under the banner of the Rihlah Ilmiah Nusantara program, was welcomed at the East Java Study Center Room on the third floor of the Ali Bin Abi Tholib Building.
The Deputy Director of UNISMA Postgraduate Program, Rulam Ahmadi, represented the director who was unable to attend due to official duties outside the city. Dr. Rulam expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation from UNINUS Bandung.
Dr. Rulam shared the view that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) should not end at the signing stage but must be followed by real implementation. In accreditation rankings, he noted, practical implementation is essential to achieving maximum assessment points.
Ahmad Sukandar, Head of Master’s Program in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at UNINUS, stated that the delegation intended to learn from an institution whose “study programs and institutional accreditation are both excellent.”
Dr. Ahmad Sukandar agreed that an MoU should not merely be a formal signing but must be accompanied by concrete follow-up actions.
During the meeting, participants also discussed a graduation completion system that does not require a thesis, known as “Mama Luber, Masuk Bersama Keluar Bersama” (enter together, graduate together). In addition, they explored the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support teaching and learning processes in higher education.
“We hope this benchmarking activity will bring significant benefits and improvements for both institutions,” a UNINUS representative said, expressing appreciation for the warm welcome from UNISMA.
This benchmarking visit is expected to mark the beginning of closer collaboration between UNINUS and UNISMA in efforts to enhance the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
