Prof. M. Mas’ud Said Receives Award for Pesantren Advocacy

Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, PhD, Director of Unisma’s Postgraduate Program, received the 2021 Pesantren Advocate Award from NU Online East Java. The award was presented during NU Online East Java’s 2nd anniversary celebration on December 25, 2021, held at Universitas Brawijaya.

Prof. Mas’ud Said expressed gratitude for the recognition. The professor of government studies at Unisma expressed hope that his work supporting pesantren communities would continue to bring meaningful benefit.

Moch Rofi’i Boenawi, Chief Organizer of NU Online East Java’s 2nd anniversary event, explained that the award recognized Prof. Mas’ud Said’s role as ISNU East Java Chairman in leading mass vaccination drives across three locations.

The first vaccination effort for students took place at Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School, administering 5,275 doses three months earlier, on August 26, 2021. The second effort delivered 5,000 doses in Banyuwangi two months earlier, on September 14, 2021, while the third provided 5,600 doses at IAIN Tulungagung on September 18, 2021.

All three locations have since completed their second dose rollout, an achievement that ultimately earned Prof. Mas’ud Said his nomination for the 2021 Pesantren Advocate Award.

Several other Unisma figures also received Pesantren Advocate recognition, including Prof. Dr. Maskuri, M.Si, Unisma Rector, and dr. Tri Wahyu Sarwiyata, M.Kes., Director of RSI Unisma and lecturer at Unisma’s Faculty of Medicine. (AL/PPS)
