Malang, October 24, 2023 – The Director of the Postgraduate Program at Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA), Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, PhD, along with a delegation consisting of the Rector of UNISMA Malang, Prof. Dr. H. Masykuri, M.Si, UNISMA Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Junaidi Mistar, PhD, and the Head of UNISMA’s International Affairs Office, attended the Symposium on UK-Indonesia Higher Education Collaboration in East Java held at the Singosari Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
The event was attended by a number of key figures, including the Governor of East Java, Dr. HC. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, the Deputy for International Cooperation at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, as well as leaders from King’s College London, such as Prof. Dr. Helen Balley, FRSA, and representatives from the British Embassy in Jakarta and the British Council Indonesia.
For Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, participation in this event was a follow-up to the joint visit by the Governor of East Java and the East Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jatim) team to the King’s College London campus in August 2023.

In a further development, in February 2024, a delegation from King’s College London is scheduled to visit UNISMA in Malang to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of the Three Pillars of Higher Education. This is a concrete step in supporting the achievement of UNISMA’s World Class University milestone.
The collaboration to be established between UNISMA and King’s College London will also involve six leading universities in Indonesia, including the University of Indonesia (UI), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Brawijaya University, and Airlangga University (Unair). King’s College London, which has been in existence since the 18th century and ranks 35th in the World University Rankings, will serve as a strategic partner in research and teaching collaboration, which is expected to strengthen UNISMA’s position as a leading educational institution.
This partnership is expected to open doors for the exchange of knowledge, research, and teaching between UNISMA and King’s College London, as well as other partner universities. By combining existing potential and resources, this collaboration is expected to yield positive contributions to the advancement of science and education in Indonesia and on a global scale.
