Universitas Islam Malang Sustains Online Lecturing Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic

Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) continues to uphold online lecturing throughout the pandemic era, spanning both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The online learning is delivered across a range of platforms, including UNISMA’s own learning management system, YouTube, and various video conferencing tools such as Zoom.

Most recently, an online lecture was conducted via Zoom for the course “Multidisciplinary Studies in Multicultural Islamic Education,” delivered by the Director of the Postgraduate Program, Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, MM., Ph.D. The session was attended by all doctoral students enrolled in the Multicultural Islamic Education program.

The lecture focused on reviewing approaches and strategies for analysing multicultural phenomena within society, a critical preparation for doctoral students as they gear up for their research and dissertation writing. Prof. Mas’ud also elaborated on the nature of differences that exist within society, affirming that diversity is an inevitable reality that need not be a source of conflict, but rather a foundation for mutual respect among individuals.

The shift to online lecturing within the Postgraduate Program has proven no barrier to the effective exchange of knowledge between lecturers and students and this resilience stands as a vital building block toward realising UNISMA’s ambition of becoming a leading, world-class university.
