Dr. H. Fajar Arief, M.Pd, explained the difference between “Distinctions” and “Strengths.” “Distinctions” focus on student outcomes that demonstrate unique, superior competencies. Meanwhile, strengths focus on the programs and infrastructure that have been prepared.
The Director of Postgraduate Programs gave guidance on strengthening the distinctiveness of each study program. “In Australia, where I studied, the university was considered ‘distinct’; in terms of quality, ‘distinct’ is higher than ‘very good.’” A unique distinctiveness will set the university apart from others, thereby giving it stronger bargaining power.

One of Postgraduate’s distinctive features that sets it apart from other postgraduate programs is the existence of East Java Studies Center, which examines all aspects of East Java based on specific focuses and locations. However, this center still needs to secure an office space within the postgraduate building. To that end, Prof. Masud Said has instructed that follow-up action should be taken and a letter sent to the East Java Provincial Government, specifically to East Java’s Department of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo), to address this matter related to East Java Study Center.
