Unisma Rector Urges UMALA Leadership to Become Leaders of Change

Malang, May 23, 2023 – Rector of Universitas Islam Malang (Unisma), Prof. Dr. H. Maskuri, M.Si, urged the leadership of Universitas Ma’arif Lampung (UMALA) to be leaders of change in educational development. This initiative is part of efforts to drive transformation and improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia.

During a meeting held at the Ali Bin Abi Thilib Building at Unisma, the Unisma Rector shared Unisma’s vision of becoming an internationally recognized campus. Unisma is currently on track to become an Entrepreneur University, and by 2028, it aims to achieve the status of a World-Class University.

Prof. Maskuri commended UMALA’s enthusiasm for learning and strong determination, which brought them from Lampung all the way to Malang; without that spirit and resolve, their journey would not have succeeded. “We appreciate UMALA’s drive to pursue progress, development, and knowledge.”

UMALA’s leader, Dr. Mispani, M.Pd.I, warmly welcomed the invitation from the Unisma Rector. He expressed UMALA’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically excellent but also possess strong leadership and good social skills.

In addition, Maskuri also explained that Unisma students come from various countries. Domestic students can transfer credits from international students from various countries.

In an effort to improve quality together, Unisma and UMALA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). As part of the follow-up, they may organize a series of collaborative activities, such as seminars, leadership training, and exchanges of knowledge, research, and innovation to create solutions to various existing social issues.

The Unisma Rector’s invitation to UMALA’s leadership received a positive response from various parties. Faculty members and students at both universities also enthusiastically welcomed this collaborative effort, which is expected to have a tangible impact on cultivating high-quality future leaders.

Through the collaboration between Unisma and UMALA, it is hoped that there will be a mutually beneficial exchange of experiences and knowledge for both parties. This is expected to strengthen the role of Nahdlatul Ulama and Indonesia as partners in driving positive change. (AL/PPS)
