2024 Doctoral Scholarship Program for Islamic Higher Education (PTKI) in East Java

The Doctoral Scholarship Program (S3) for Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI) in East Java is funded by the Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Timur (East Java Provincial Government) through the Lembaga Pengembangan Pesantren dan Diniyah Jawa Timur (LPPD) in 2024, in collaboration with Universitas Islam Malang. 

Requirements for Applicants

  1. Photocopy of East Java ID card (KTP) and Family Card (KK) – 3 copies
  2. Photocopy of a Master’s degree certificate (S2/M2) from an accredited PTKI or Ma’had Aly – 3 legalized copies
  3. Recommendation letter from an Islamic boarding school (Pesantren) – 1 original and 2 copies
  4. Official appointment letter as a permanent lecturer from the foundation with a registered NIDN at a PTKI affiliated with a pesantren, or an appointment letter and lecturer identification number from a Ma’had Aly foundation with a minimum of two years of service – 3 copies
  5. A stamped declaration letter (Rp10,000) stating that the applicant is not receiving any other scholarship – 1 original and 2 copies
  6. Minimum age of 26 years and maximum age of 50 years
  7. Submission of a dissertation proposal in accordance with the chosen research interest and study program
  8. Pass the administrative selection stage
  9. Pass Stage I of the internal PTKI examination
  10. Pass Stage II, consisting of a reading test of the classical Islamic text Fathul Mu’in and a dissertation proposal examination conducted by LPPD East Java and the East Java Provincial Government
  11. All documents must be submitted using folio (F4) paper
  12. Quota: 10 students

Schedule and Selection Mechanism for the Doctoral Scholarship Program

  1. Signing of the MoU between participating PTKI institutions and LPPD East Java – First week of September 2024
  2. Recruitment of prospective students by PTKI scholarship organizers – June 3 to July 17, 2024
  3. Administrative selection by the organizing PTKI institutions – July 18, 2024
  4. Stage I selection (written/oral examination) by the organizing PTKI institutions – July 22 to July 25, 2024
  5. Stage I results submitted to LPPD East Java (15 candidates selected for verification and eligibility for the next stage)
  6. Document verification by LPPD East Java – July 29 to July 31, 2024
  7. Stage II selection: Fathul Mu’in reading test and dissertation proposal examination by the LPPD East Java team and the East Java Provincial Government – August 7 to August 10, 2024
  8. Commencement of classes for new students – First week of September 2024
  9. Public lecture (studium generale) by the Governor of East Java – September 2024

This scholarship is available for the Doctoral Program in Multicultural Islamic Religious Education (S3 PAI).
