UNIBA Balikpapan Conducts Benchmarking Visit and Signs Cooperation Agreement with UNISMA Postgraduate Program

Universitas Balikpapan (UNIBA) through its Postgraduate Program, conducted a benchmarking visit and signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with UNISMA’s Postgraduate Program on Thursday, July 17, 2024. The event took place at the East Java Study Center, Ali bin Abi Tholib Building, third floor.

Director of UNIBA Postgraduate Program, Dr. Rendi Susiswo Ismail, S.H., M.H., stated that UNISMA is one of the leading private Islamic universities, making it a valuable reference for UNIBA to learn from an institution grounded in Ahlussunnah Wal Jamaah principles.

“Personally, I aspire to see a progressive Islamic university that delivers real benefits and contributes meaningfully to the Muslim community,” he emphasized.

Dr. Moh. Afifulloh, M.Pd., Vice Director I of UNISMA Postgraduate Program, welcomed the visit. The lecturer of the Master’s Program in Islamic Education noted, “We currently manage one doctoral program and ten master’s programs. It is only natural for us to establish collaboration, so we can advance our institutions together.”

“We welcome UNIBA’s Master’s Programs in Law and Management to learn with us, and we are ready to share our experience. Once cooperation is established, there is nothing we withhold,” he added.

Following remarks from both institutions, the session proceeded with the signing of the cooperation agreement covering eight areas, including: (a) implementation of education and teaching, (b) research activities, (c) community service programs, (d) joint publications, (e) collaborative research and resource sharing, (f) institutional strengthening, and (g) other relevant areas, including facilities, infrastructure and institutional competencies.

The sharing session was moderated by Dr. Surya Sari Faradiba, M.Pd., alongside Head of the Master’s Program in Management, Dr. Nurhidayah, SE., MM., and Head of the Master’s Program in Law, Dr. Diyan Isnaeni, SH., M.Hum. The discussion was dynamic, covering governance, academic services for regular and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) schemes, and strategies for facing field assessments by the Independent Accreditation Institute (LAM).

In the near future, UNISMA Postgraduate Program is scheduled to visit UNIBA to follow up on partnership implementation and introduce its postgraduate programs to UNIBA students and alumni. (AL/PPS).
