Doctoral Program in Islamic Religiou Education (PAI) at Universitas Islam Malang has once again graduated four new doctors following Indonesia’s Independence Day commemoration. The open dissertation examinations held after the holiday resulted in the graduation of Luqman Ahsanul Karom, Moh. Tamimi, Sutarno, and Siti Fatimah.
Luqman Ahsanul Karom and Moh. Tamimi were examined on 19 August 2025. The examination board included Prof. Junaidi, M.Pd., Ph.D., Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, M.M., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Imam Suprayogo, Prof. Dr. Maskuri, M.Si., Prof. Yaqub Cikusin, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Djunaidi Ghony, and Dr. Rosichin Mansur, M.A.

Luqman Ahsanul Karom presented a dissertation entitled “The Perspective of the ‘Beda tapi Mesra’ Forum on Multicultural Islamic Education in Singosari, Malang.” Meanwhile, Moh. Tamimi defended a dissertation entitled “The Epistemology of Multicultural Islamic Education among Women: A Phenomenological Study of the Rumah Kita Community in Ging-Ging Village, Bluto, Sumenep.” Both dissertations were supervised by Prof. Dr. H. Yaqub Cikusin, M.Si. as promoter and Dr. Rosichin Mansur, S.Fil., M.Pd. as co-promoter.

Two days later (21 August 2025), the doctoral program held another open examination for Sutarno, who presented a dissertation entitled “Enculturation of Wasathiyah Islamic Values Based on Plurality at Madrasah Tsanawiyah of Sabilil Muttaqien Islamic Boarding School, Randublatung, Blora.” Meanwhile, Siti Fatimah defended her dissertation entitled “Tolerance among Generation Z: An Ethnographic Study of Multicultural Islamic Education at State Vocational High School 1 Pasuruan.”

The promoter for both Sutarno and Siti Fatimah was Prof. Dr. H. Djunaidi Ghony, assisted by Prof. Drs. H. Junaidi Mistar, M.Pd., Ph.D. as co-promoter. Other examiners included Prof. M. Mas’ud Said, M.M., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Imam Suprayogo, Prof. Dr. Nur Syam, M.Si., and Dr. Moh. Afifulloh, M.Pd.

The examinations resulted in the graduation of four new doctors with varying distinctions. Luqman Ahsanul Karom, Sutarno, and Siti Fatimah graduated with honours, while Moh. Tamimi received a very satisfactory distinction.
