East Java Baznas Deputy Chair Earns Doctorate in Multicultural Islamic Education

Drs. Ahsanul Haq, M.Pd.I., Wakil Ketua Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (Baznas) Provinsi Jawa Timur, sukses meraih gelar Doktor Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) Multikultural dengan predikat Sangat Memuaskan pada Selasa, 30 September 2025

Malang – Drs. Ahsanul Haq, M.Pd.I., Deputy Chair of the East Java Provincial National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas), has successfully earned a Doctorate in Multicultural Islamic Religious Education (PAI). He was declared to have passed with Very Satisfactory distinction after completing his Open Doctoral Promotion Examination on Tuesday, 30 September 2025, at the Islamic University of Malang (UNISMA).

Drs. Ahsanul Haq, M.Pd.I., who also serves as Katib Syuriah of the East Java Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU), presented his dissertation entitled “Multicultural Islamic Religious Education in Building Harmonious Living at SMA Khadijah Surabaya.”

The study highlights the transformation of SMA Khadijah, which was initially established for female students from Nahdliyyin (NU) families, into a highly inclusive school that welcomes students from diverse organizational and religious backgrounds.

The open examination of Ahsanul Haq was held immediately following the doctoral examination of the previous graduate, Bambang Utomo. The session proceeded in a warm and dynamic atmosphere, marked by in-depth discussion, particularly as several members of the examination board are also active officials within PWNU East Java, contributing to an engaging and collegial exchange.

The examination board included Prof. Dr. Maskuri, who also serves as Deputy Chair of PWNU East Java; Prof. Mas’ud Said, an A’wan of PWNU East Java; and Prof. Junaidi Mistar, who also holds the position of Chair of PTNU (Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education Institutions) East Java.

Other examiners were Prof. Dr. Imam Suprayogo and Prof. Dr. Nur Syam, M.Si. The composition of the examination panel was largely similar to that of the previous session, with the exception of the replacement of Dr. Moh. Afifulloh, M.Pd., by Dr. Syamsu Madyan, Lc., M.A.

The examination was attended by several prominent figures, including the Chair of East Java Baznas, Prof. Ali Maschan Moesa, and Haji Masnuh. Members of the East Java Baznas team and Baznas of Malang City were also present, adding to the significance of the occasion.

With this achievement, KH. Ahsanul Haq has officially been awarded the title of Doctor in Multicultural Islamic Religious Education and is recorded as the 137th graduate of the Multicultural PAI Doctoral Program. Congratulations, Kiai!
